Banish winter
One or more spark towers are erected in each municipality. For this, dry Christmas trees are collected in January and burned. The "spark witch" sits at the top of the tower. The explosion of the doll filled with black powder is the highlight of this tradition. The faster the pile of wood burns and the doll explodes, the quicker winter is supposed to disappear.
"Funkaküachle" and fireworks
Today, the burning of the spark tower is festive affair. Many places offer the popular "Funkaküachle", a lard pastry. Fireworks and firecrackers are also set off.
