Background

Origin of the fairs

The fair used to coincide with the autumn cattle market. Traders tried to get their goods to farmers or farmers' wives. At the cattle market, prize-winning animals were presented with a gift - money from the state. This was often used to buy essentials, such as clothing, at the market.

Even today, the fairs in Vaduz and Eschen are held at the same time as the premium market.
