Ruggell Wetland

Description
The Ruggell Wetland, a peatland area, is a nature reserve covering around 90 hectares in the very north of Liechtenstein. Fauna and, above all, flora offer nature lovers a wonderful experience of nature.
Fens, ponds, hedges, trees and meadows provide an ideal habitat for many endangered animals and plants. Even the stork has moved back in. However, the flowering of the Siberian iris at the end of May to the beginning of June, when large areas are transformed into a blue carpet, is a particular attraction.
The outlet of the inland canal into the Rhine has been restored to its natural state, and there is a picnic area at the canal’s mouth in the Weienau district. The Rhine, with its gravel banks and the Rhine embankment, offers a peaceful setting for relaxation, whether for walking, cycling, or inline skating. There is also a connection to the cycling networks of Austria and Switzerland.
