Rectory buildings

Historic building ensemble of the Pfrundbauten with half-timbered façade and mountain backdrop in Liechtenstein in the evening light.
The Pfrundbauten are a place of culture and a landmark of the municipality of Eschen.

Description

The medieval rectory buildings, whose origins probably date back to the 15th century, together with the neighboring parish church of St. Martin, form the landmark of the municipality of Eschen. The buildings of the former rectory and chaplaincy were renovated in 1975/78. The rooms in the historic semi-detached house on Eschen's village square radiate a warm atmosphere. This makes them a unique and popular venue for temporary exhibitions, concerts and other events. The buildings were listed as a historical monument in 1974.

The presentation rooms extend over three upper floors and consist of a number of rooms, corridors and the prestigious Pfrundsaal (also known locally as the Rittersaal) as the centerpiece and jewel of the stylish building. The rectory buildings bear witness to the long affiliation of the parish of Eschen to the Pfäfers monastery and embody an important part of Eschen's church and community history.

In many exhibitions and events, people, buildings and landscapes from the parish were brought to the attention of the many visitors for a moment or even for longer.
