Hollein House

The Hollein House
Completed in 2002, the building was designed by the renowned architect Hans Hollein and impresses with its unique shape.

Description

Born in Vienna in 1934, the architect, designer, artist and teacher Hans Hollein was a versatile creative talent and one of the most renowned architects in the world. In 1997, he was commissioned by the Dr. Ludwig Marxer Family Foundation to build the building now known as "Hollein".

The shape of the building is based on a simple rectangular body, which was transformed into a moving, exciting building volume by means of a slight transformation. The result is a homogeneous building whose roof and façade are not separate elements, but are made of the same stone and have the same structure.

The unity and plasticity of the structure is emphasized by the continuous outer skin made of Verde Andeer, which appears both elegant and solid.
