Mariahilf Chapel

The chapel in the Mäls district of Balzers has been a listed building since 1951 and is known for its history and baroque interior.
Description
The Mariahilf chapel is located in the Mäls district, nestled in a small park and surrounded by a residential area. Its exact date of origin is unclear, but it was first mentioned in writing in 1690. According to legend, it was built as thanks for the help of the Virgin Mary in the fight against a dragon at Ellhorn - the dragon's head wind vane on the tower is a reminder of this. Historical research indicates that there was a predecessor chapel from the early 16th century. The current appearance dates back to alterations in the 18th century, including the tower and the baroque altars. The chapel is a popular place of worship and wedding celebrations and is home to the oldest church bell in Liechtenstein.
