Figure in a Shelter by Henry Moore

Bronze sculpture "Figure in a Shelter" by Henry Moore in the Vaduz Sculpture Park - surrounded by blossoming trees in spring.
The sculpture "Figure in a Shelter" by Henry Moore was created just a few years before the artist's death. It is located in the government district of Vaduz.

Description

The sculpture illustrates both the formal model of the inner and outer form as well as the basic motif of the human form, which is both sheltered and at the same time protective. The sculpture consists of three partial sculptures mounted on a circular plinth. Two fragmented shells, offset against each other, form the open-sided shelter; a third, smaller and obviously figurative part can be read as a standing female torso. The shelter forms have different dimensions and contours. The figure stands in the opening of the protective space, the preferred side of which shows a few female motifs. The interpretation as a maternal woman is obvious, although Moore has dispensed with the embodiment of a child and only the swaying movement of the large diagonal fold in front of the body hints at his recurring mother and child theme.
