African King by Gunther Stilling

In many formal approaches, Stilling takes the rules of classical aesthetics as his starting point.
Description
The study of Greco-Roman antiquity and the Italian Renaissance, as well as Mannerism and the Baroque, have left their mark on Gunther Stilling's work, which would be inconceivable without his numerous stays in Italy. Stilling devotes a large part of his work to the human head. His sculptures are given an additional dimension through sharp incisions, layering and geometric additions. The "non finito" in his works, the fragment, the alternating rough and smooth surfaces visualize transience, power and violence with their fissures.
