Film & Panel Discussion: “Among Plants”
Description
A sensuous and poetic film about the relationships between plants, insects, and humans, and how the intertwining of science and art opens up new perspectives on a volatile world: A research team led by Dr. Consuelo De Moraes is on the verge of discovering “Florigen”—the substance that could make plants bloom instantly. Meanwhile, author Florianne Koechlin visits Europe’s most advanced laboratories and reveals how plants, fungi, insects, and microbes communicate with one another. The artist duo Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger, meanwhile, blur the boundaries between humans and nature and create surreal art installations from their living garden.
Following the film screening, director Antshi von Moos, curator Annett Höland, and BZG President Josef Biedermann will discuss how we as a society address this topic—and what role artistic approaches play in bringing botany to a wider audience. René Schierscher will moderate the discussion.
The event is presented by “supergut,” the initiative to promote biodiversity in Liechtenstein. Admission to this performance is covered by “supergut” and is therefore free for the audience. In addition to the panel discussion, the Feldfreunde will host a reception, to which the audience is also invited.
