Film & Panel Discussion: “The 8th”
Description
"The 8th" tells the story of Irish women and their fight to overturn one of the world's most restrictive abortion bans. After a 35-year struggle, the pro-choice side radically changes its tactics in an effort to bring about a shift among the historically conservative electorate.
The documentary features voices from both sides of the debate, but the focus is on the dynamic female leaders of the pro-choice movement. The film follows seasoned activist Ailbhe Smyth and self-proclaimed “glitter activist” Andrea Horan as they develop a bold strategy of grassroots activism and achieve the impossible. This dramatic story is underscored by a vivid examination of the harrowing setbacks that led up to this pivotal moment in Irish history.
Following the film screening, a panel discussion will explore and discuss the topic in light of the current situation in Liechtenstein. The audience is cordially invited to attend.
