Description

In March 2022, the town of Bucha, a suburb of Kyiv, was occupied by Russian troops. What followed was a massacre that shocked the world. But what happens when—against all odds—someone survives to tell the story? In this gripping documentary, the sole survivor of a horrific crime in Ukraine, together with the wives and mothers of his fallen comrades, tells an extraordinary story. While the executions were intended to dehumanize the victims and erase their existence from the world, this is a powerful account of love in the face of terror.

Following the film screening, there will be a panel discussion featuring Alice Doyard, Fergal Keane, and Christian Wenaweser, to which the audience is cordially invited.

Alice Doyard is the writer and director of numerous documentaries and feature stories. She has a particular interest in history and the impact of international conflicts. In 2021, Alice Doyard won an Oscar for her short documentary “Colette.”
Fergal Keane served as a BBC correspondent for 37 years. In that role, he reported from Northern Ireland, South Africa, Rwanda, Ukraine, and other war zones. His work has been recognized with numerous awards.
Christian Wenaweser is Liechtenstein’s ambassador to the United Nations in New York. There, he has held various posts, primarily in the areas of human rights and international law.
