“My dearest love!” – Love Letters Through the Ages
“My dearest love!” – For centuries, words like these have marked the beginning of a daring venture: entrusting one’s feelings to another person.
Description
A love letter is more than just paper and ink. It carries within it hope and longing—and a quiet plea for a response. It reflects both personal feelings and societal notions of love, marriage, and partnership.
The exhibition traces the history of love in writing, from its early literary forms through the 19th century to the digital messages of today. A moving letter from 1844, tender exchanges of postcards, artistically designed love notes, and literary works demonstrate how people remained connected across great distances.
With every line, we see how language, expression, and means of communication evolve—yet always serve the same purpose: to foster closeness. What remains is the courage to put love into words.
