Academy Awards
Description
In this improv theater show format, the audience writes made-up story titles on slips of paper and puts them in a hat. Four directors then each draw a title from the hat and choose a genre off the cuff, for example: action, western, fantasy or romance.
Each director then presents the first scene of the respective story, asking the audience for suggestions for names, locations and objects. After all the first scenes have been staged, the audience votes by applause on which story should be continued. The scene with the least applause is eliminated. This process is repeated over three rounds until only one story remains and its director then wins the "Academy Award" for the best improvised story of the evening.
