Description

When closeness becomes a burden - relatives of mentally ill people at the limit
Relatives of people with mental illness often take on a great deal of responsibility. They provide emotional support, accompany them in everyday life and often bear a heavy burden themselves. Their own needs are put on the back burner, and excessive demands and exhaustion are often the result.
This specialist lecture addresses this special situation of relatives, raises awareness of their role and shows concrete ways to relieve the burden. Mr. Thomas Lampert, family counselor at the St. Gallen Psychiatric Clinic, will provide well-founded information and practical experience.
The KIT - Crisis Intervention Team Liechtenstein will also be presented. Managing Director Ms. Vanessa Schafhauser-Kindle will provide information on tasks, procedures and support services in the event of an acute crisis.
Afterwards, participants are invited to enjoy a drink and discussion. The event offers space for information, exchange and empowerment - an important step towards removing the taboos surrounding mental illness and raising the profile of family members.
