Let's be honest. Moritz Schädler's most successful times are already behind him. As a young musician, he toured the USA when the U still stood for United and not for Urinal, wrote hits that were played up and down the radio and performed in front of thousands of fans in the venerable Hallenstadion. Watched by the Godmother of Pop herself, Cher, who - as legend has it - wanted to adopt him on the spot so that Moritz could compose her Requiem in F sharp major. Do you believe in life after love? Nope. But he believes in life after laugh!

And so Schädler now throws himself down from the safe, warmly lit stages of pop into the dark laughter cellars of the comedy scene to throw his thoughts into the rows of audience members, detached from the beat and banal rhyme structure. Whether it's about police recruitment campaigns, the softening of the comfort zone by means of hour-long sitz baths or the exorcism of his princely claims as a Liechtenstein exile - Schädler can't help but take refuge in self-castigation, always dressed in fine threads. But he does it so comically, absurdly and elegantly that you can't help but watch him. Moritz Schädler's best years may be over. But his hundred funniest years are definitely still ahead of him and us.
