Curator's tour of the exhibition 80 years in the service of humanity

Description
Together with the sign language interpreter, our curator Caroline Hilty will guide you through the exhibition "80 years in the service of humanity. Stamps of the Liechtenstein Red Cross". Afterwards, impressions can be shared over coffee and cake (optional) in the SchlossCafé.
Humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntariness, unity and universality. These seven principles characterize the work of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Liechtenstein Red Cross (LRC) is part of this largest humanitarian network and, as one of the country's leading aid organizations, always puts people first.
The founding of the LRK is closely linked to the end of the Second World War. On the initiative of Princess Gina von und zu Liechtenstein, the organization was founded in Schaanwald on 30 April 1945 in response to the plight of refugees on the Liechtenstein-Austrian border. Within a few days, more than 7,000 war refugees sought help in Liechtenstein - more than half of the population at the time!
From this emergency aid, various aid structures developed under the umbrella of the "Liechtenstein Red Cross", which have become an integral part of the country today: The rescue service, blood donation campaigns, first aid courses, the Red Cross Youth, as well as mother and father counseling and the House of Families. It also runs the Gamander House for people seeking protection from Ukraine and provides financial support worldwide in war and crisis situations.
Since its foundation, 15 Liechtenstein stamps have been issued to commemorate the LRK. A further five stamps are dedicated to the International Committee of the Red Cross and to Princess Gina's mother, who was a Red Cross nurse.
To mark the 80th anniversary of the Liechtenstein Red Cross, these stamps with their original designs are intended to provide an insight into the diverse activities of the Red Cross movement in Liechtenstein.
