Guided tour of the exhibition Close to the war. Liechtenstein 1939 to 1945

Guided tour of the exhibition Close to the war. Liechtenstein 1939 to 1945
In ten themed areas, the exhibition shows how the people of Liechtenstein experienced this stressful time of war until the murderous war ended in Europe on May 8, 1945.

Description

The Principality of Liechtenstein survived the six years of the Second World War without being occupied or destroyed. Nevertheless, the neutral country without an army was in constant danger. With its 11,000 inhabitants, it lies between the belligerent Germany and armed, neutral Switzerland. You can lean on the Swiss Confederation. But from Germany, the so-called Third Reich, there is a threat of annexation, which local supporters of National Socialism are also striving for, thus dividing society. Life was difficult for the people, and Liechtenstein's future as an independent state was uncertain. In ten thematic areas, the exhibition shows how the people of Liechtenstein experienced this difficult time of war until the murderous war in Europe came to an end on May 8, 1945.
