"Forensic imaging - or: How to make corpses talk"
Description
Forensic medicine is a discipline of medicine that is little or hardly known and has undergone major changes in recent years. The introduction of forensic imaging is a true revolution. Methods such as post-mortem computed tomography (PMCT), post-mortem magnetic resonance imaging (PMMR) and post-mortem angiography (PMA) have made it possible to easily document the deceased and adapt autopsies to the corpse and the respective issue in advance. In addition to the techniques already known from clinical radiology, other imaging methods can also be used.
Prof. Dr. Silke Grabherr is Director of the Lausanne-Geneva Institute of Forensic Medicine (CURML) and a full professor at the Universities of Lausanne and Geneva and lecturer at the University of the Canton of Fribourg. In these roles, she is responsible for teaching forensic medicine to medical and law students. As a forensic pathologist, she has specialized in forensic imaging and became known for the development of postmortem multiphasic angiography (MPMCTA). In her activity as a forensic pathologist, she is an expert in many national and international investigations and serves as a consultant and expert to various organizations, in particular the International Red Cross.
