Description

Have you ever wondered how much art there is in a stamp? Or how a tiny picture can tell entire stories about Liechtenstein?

The painter and graphic artist Josef Seger (1908-1998) was born in Vaduz, but lived and worked in Austria for most of his life. He is one of Liechtenstein's most important stamp designers. Between 1945 and 1977, he had a decisive influence on the face of the Liechtenstein stamp world with 69 designs. His motifs range from the Princely House and Christmas to popular depictions of animals and sport - many of them are now regarded as minor milestones in stamp art. Seger's designs are characterized by artistic quality, thematic diversity and fine attention to detail.

The exhibition shows the original designs of these stamps as well as around 30 unpublished designs and animal and landscape studies. It invites visitors to rediscover Seger's artistic signature and experience the diversity of his inspiration.
